“A Travel Lodge Moment” was written while attending the NAMM convention in 2008. My roommate was still asleep so I went out and got a large cup of coffee at the Denny’s across the street and came back. So I grabbed my bass along with my coffee and began practicing in the Bathroom, so as to not disturb my roommate. At that time I was also preparing for a recording Session with David Friesen. I didn’t have a tune picked out, so I figured I’d write one. I wrote with David’s playing style in mind. While at Music school, I had several of David’s albums as “standard” listening for studying. The motel I happened to be staying at was a “Travel Lodge” so that’s how the title of the song came to be. The shower works well for practicing unplugged!
