“Evidence” I have this thing for words or phrases that make for good titles. This was one of those things were the song and title existed but I didn’t make the connection until I needed to. I had been using this loop idea and it wasn’t making me happy. So I thought I needed some new blood to get things rolling. That’s when I wrote to Percy Jones and asked him if he would be interested in playing. We had forged a correspondence through email earlier so we just kept in touch. Anyway it developed into this “CSI” investigational Police Show theme but with more teeth. That’s when I decided to call it “Evidence.” I told Percy to do his thing on the bass, and make references to D Minor as the core key center while moving about in Bb and related keys. I rewrote my idea around his existing bass part. It’s one of my favorites on the album.
