The Newsletter and The Moment
As those of you who've received my newsletter know, I love color! I love the crafting of which color will look good with the neighboring one - how the font looks.. Oh yes! And what is the actual news. I labor over the thing like a child who is being sent off to the first day of school..but in the end - it's the music!
We, at Passion Star Music, are having a blast every day with our craft. It brings us into our moment - where we can rest, reclaim our perspective and revel in our being here - alive, right here and now. And it is a joy to share that moment with our listeners.
May your moments be filled with music!
Gentle Steps...
Today I am pondering all of the many steps that got me here, singing, creating music.. working with other artists doing the same.. (working on the web blog at 10:30 at night!) I can tell you that I had the dream writing music since I can remember.. I just liked to listen to it.. any kind of music.. enjoy the riffs.. the hooks.. the lyrics.. I started writing my first song in the 5th or 6th grade..
Beauty, Beauty everywhere - where you are I really care, when I walk along the sand, I feel Beauty hold my hand
Nature, Nature everywhere - where you are I really care, when I walk along the sand, I feel Nature hold my hand
God, God everywhere - where you are I really care, when I walk along the sand, I feel God hold my hand.. Lisa Star
It was the pure and innocent vision of this song that captured me and will forever keep me writing.. and singing..
In Studio-Sacred Graffiti-The Mix
It has been an amazing process watching the professional team do sound design while mixing an album. The raw materials (recorded tracks) are shaped and sculpted while tone and panning and effects start to reveal the jewel that lies within. The producer working with his engineering team guides the process while making sure that resources and time is maximized. Truly an amazing and unique talent set. Especially with the combined years of talent here at Skywalker Sound and producer, Ray Cooper!
Today is a new day! And a new Blog!
And it is the first day of my blog here on Passion Star Music. My first thoughts are to talk about my experiences recording Shining Bright in the studio. I learned about "punch-ins" - if one wants to replace a word or section in a song without recording the whole song.. and I learned that this creates a different set of issues while solving others.. namely - tone matching by the singer (me). I would say it's almost harder to match the tone than sing the song again!
Stay tuned as I post more insights into this recording - including headphone mix, singing in another language and more!
Take good care, Lisa
