The sum of all things

What is "happiness" and can we ever achieve more? Does this sound greedy and self centered to want more happiness? I think not. The path in life is Sisyphean. How can one be satisfied with a never ending journey? The goal or the stopping places in life; buying a house, putting out a CD, having a family are these stopping places or goals along the endless journey. Even at the end of our life, we're not too sure it ends at our death. So here we are going about our business, running through the processes of doing things, neglecting self, arguing with partners/spouses over trivial matters, nagging and whatnot. Can we improve our day to day existence? I say yes. By not living goal oriented and be more vested in the process of life. "Stopping to smell the roses" as it were.

There is more happiness through changing the mundane and by not living by rote we can live exiting happier lives. Here are some steps that I'm starting with:

There is only Love, Be Edo, Embrace Failure, Enjoy the now, you can't change anyone and Act how you want to feel.

Despite all difficult social intra/inter personal situations my mantra is "There is only love."

Be Edo - I am that I am and continuing to be so. We all have our pitfalls and advantages, bring them all in the embrace of who I am.

Embrace Failure - Don't be afraid of failure or criticism. See them as positives in all situations

Enjoy the now- Well I'm digging typing this to you readers. What's next is going to be equally fun, whatever that is...

You can't change anyone - Damned if you don't understand this one. But equally difficult is to remember it.

Act how you want to feel - If you want to feel happier, act happier. Want to feel sexy, Act that way and you will be. I'm not saying be shallow, but be in that frame of mind and the rest follows. Try it.

The Journey is never ending, just more beautiful

This afternoon I'm leaving for Skywalker Studio to spend 4 days and 4 nights mixing my 3rd album "Sacred Graffiti". What does Sacred Graffiti mean to me? Well Graffiti is the italian word that literally means "Writing." For me I love the juxtaposition of things that you would not normally mix together. We usually associate Graffiti with the familiar art work so bountiful in the urban landscape.

"Sacred" is something that is not only associated in the religious sense but in a personal sense as well. Something personal that you have a loving association with. For me it is music and the often sparse moments of poetry that I write.

"Sacred Graffiti" = Personal writing=connected to the message or the sound.

Out in the real world, the Graffiti that you see out there is also personal, and in many ways lovingly crafted.

It's amazing to see the time and energy that went into "tagging" a wall space in a short amount of time.

Often times it's a quick message expressing a state of mind or contexts of the heart. Some are beautiful, some are desperate. At times all you get is an Avatar or a signature.

Bumper stickers are another mode of "Sacred Graffiti". Someone else wrote the message but the person

who has fixed that statement on their car associates with that message: It has personal meaning for them.

The compositions on this album are a reflection of my inner world and how I see and hear the outer world.

At times my world is idyllic, sometimes bucolic and other times I cannot deny the world outside my door constantly penetrating my mind, my spirit or my art. It is a balance of the Tempest and the Grace.
